Quality Flooring Installation in 2021: Everything you need to know

Let’s be honest – two of the hardest things to manage when renovating is budget and time. And both impact on the other (the longer a reno takes, the more it costs!). Take control where you can by choosing to install your flooring at a price and time that suits you.

The DIY Floorboards team are experts in flooring and can give you the right advice to choose the right product for your home.

We also provide the accessories required to install your flooring with a quality finish. So, instead of relying on the tradies schedule become a DIY’er and get the job done yourself!

Let’s take you through everything you will need to make sure you complete a professional installation.

  • Floor Prep are the products required to prepare your subfloor for laying your flooring on.
  • Underlays are laid over your subfloor before installing your flooring. Not required for all flooring types (not needed for vinyl as it is direct stick or hybrid as it comes with rubber backing) however underlay is always required for laminate flooring and provides acoustic properties which is particularly important in apartment buildings.
  • Adhesives is the glue used to adhere the flooring to your subfloor. Dependent on your flooring type you will need adhesives, you can check which type with the DIY Floorboards team.
  • Trims are the accessories used for junctions between two types of flooring, i.e., floorboards and carpet in bedroom.
  • Scotia is used along the edges of skirtings or built-in cabinetry to create a seamless finish and hide the edges of the floor.
  • Nosing is used on the edges of stairs.
  • The right tools are important for a truly professional finish.
  • Cleaners It’s important to ensure you use the correct cleaning and maintenance products to protect your floor and keep it looking as good as the day it is installed. We recommend the Quick-Step range.
